I am here to help you on your therapist career journey.

Rachel

Therapist Mentor in Atlanta

I am Rachel, a therapist and mentor in Atlanta and online.

I began my career by receiving a Bachelor’s in Psychology from Kennesaw State University followed by working at a therapeutic boarding school for teens in Montana, then volunteering for Crisis Text Line.

From there I attended the University of North Georgia for my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.

I was set on finding an internship in private practice and made it happen.

From interacting with newer therapists and learning to market myself and my services, I found my passion.

Therapy

I am a therapist in Atlanta and online for Georgia, South Carolina, and Florida residents. I love to help individuals and couples grow and explore ways to find their best selves.

  • A passion of mine is to help couples with effective communication and help them build fondness and admiration for one another.
  • My perspective on religion and spirituality is open-minded, welcoming, and I am affirming of all relationships.
  • I also provide individual counseling to adults and teens (16 and up). I keep clients engaged through many different relaxation techniques. We’ll use homework to make sure your new skills stick. I’m also a big fan of using therapy books and workbooks to dive deeper into your concerns.
  • Clients tend to like my down-to-earth and direct approach to therapy. I also love to use humor with my clients! I use a combination of interventions to meet clients where they are and assist them in meeting their goals.

I’m a recovering perfectionist and a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP). Over time, I’ve learned to set boundaries and become assertive.

Those things you’re wanting to work on… I’ve truly experienced them too. Let’s work on your goals together.

Students Applying to Graduate School

I love to mentor students considering grad school to become therapists. Wouldn’t it be nice to know someone that can guide you in:

  • how to complete applications
  • research programs
  • write a compelling personal statement
  • highlight your strengths and experience in your resume
  • feel confident in your interview with your future professors
  • and guide you in discovering your career goals!

It’s a lot for anyone to manage! Let me help you feel at ease with the grad school process. I know I wish I had had a mentor when I was starting this process.

Hire Interns For Your Private Practice

I didn’t realize just how much I was doing on my own, until I hired interns. I was balancing clients, marketing, admin, not to mention my personal and social life. It was so much! This is for therapists that want to mentor interns and find a work life balance again!

I’ll share with you how to:

  • Tailor your internship descriptions to your business needs
  • Fine-tune any job posting details to bring in ideal candidates
  • Prep for the interview process
  • Narrow down the candidates for the best fit for you
  • Collaborate on an internship handbook of best practices
  • And determine a great onboarding routine that fits your schedule

New and Seasoned Therapists Wanting to Improve Their Online Presence and Marketing

I’ve learned a lot over the past few years and want to share it with you as a marketing mentor:

    • how to start marketing on your own
    • dissect business registration and bank accounts
    • budgeting and planning out your ideal schedule
    • identifying preferred client populations
    • using social media apps to your advantage
    • plan out social media posts and blog posts
    • find your creativity to reach your audience
    • explore ethical considerations with social media
    • start and/or improve your website design (I have experience with WordPress and Squarespace)
    • brainstorm ideas to market to your niche and better understand email marketing and different platforms.

    Why work with me

“Rachel is a compassionate and understanding clinician who is willing to navigate each individual’s process from a dynamic perspective. In working with Rachel as a fellow practitioner, it is evident that she is knowledgeable and well-trained in both couples counseling and working with teens.

She takes time to research and educate herself on an array of approaches, which is complementary to her positive energy and passion for counseling. I’d feel confident in recommending individuals and couples to her for psychotherapy.”

    Lindsey A Richards, LPC, NCC

“Rachel has been a huge help to me as I navigate everything from taking the GRE to applying for graduate schools! Her advice has steered me in the right direction and given me confidence to pursue my dream of becoming a Licensed Counselor. She’s extremely compassionate and knowledgeable making her someone I have been able to depend on during this stressful, often confusing journey! With her guidance, I applied to University of North Georgia, and I just received an invitation for an interview!

    Thank you so much Rachel!”

    Emily C., Graduate School Applicant

“Rachel turned out to be a critical resource for me as a young therapist working in private practice for the first time. I had no idea where to start and I was oblivious to the business-related knowledge that private practice requires. In just a short time, Rachel offered me more resources, tips, secrets and hacks than I could have hoped for. She obviously knew exactly what I was dealing with and that made me feel such relief. I owe it to my clients to be part of a well-organized business, and Rachel helped me get there.”
